With the availability of excellent 308 brass, has anyone tried making Creedmoor brass from it? I'd give it a shot, but I don't have dies or even a rifle chambered for it. Just curious.

Not long ago, I read the following post on "Sniper Hide" asking the same question. One forum member advised the following; neck size 308 brass in 308 die. Trim to 1.910" (Creedmoor trim length). Remove the Creedmoore F/L size die expander. Size 308 case using plenty of lube. Replace expander and size again. You may have to turn the necks going from 308 to 6.5 diameter. Poster also said he tried sizing 243 up to 6.5 and lost many cases from shoulder collapse. The 308 route was the best. I'm passing this on hoping it will help you. I don't have a 6.5 Creedmoore.......yet but will save this information for future use.

Good information. I have been thinking of getting another barrel, and after reading about the 6.5 Creedmoor I am seriously considering this round. Since I have a Savage 110 I will be able to load them to any reasonable length with no magazine problems. As I have an ample supply of .308 brass, I may try this method when/if I do get a barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor.

One of the design aspects for the Creedmoor was that it had to be able to load the 140 class bullets without encroaching on powder space, and still be able to seat in a magazine. That's why the 6.5 Creedmoor is shorter than the 260.
