I am looking at buying a 30" barrel threaded for a Large shank savage action and chambered in .300 RUM.

My question is, what should I look for in a Savage action to accomodate this barrel? Is there any std. action that will support this without a bunch of modification?

Long action or magnum Action length?
What size bolt face?
What about magazine size?
Other requirements?

Thanks for the help guys.

Get a RUM action.

There is no magnum action. Only long and short.

You'll need a magnum bolt head

The only large shank actions are the target actions, WSM actions, and the fairly rare RUM action.

You could have the barrel turned down to a small shank and put it on any long action.

You could always get the Savage 110 BA 338 Lapua.

It is a long action large shank. You'd have to swap in a magnum bolt head.
