Hard recoil pad on 114 AC

I purchased a new American Classic 114 .30-06 and my only complaint is with the recoil pad. The pad installed on mine is very hard rubber with no give whatsoever. Is this a standard pad used by Savage?

Yep, it's the stock pad. All Savage's used to have very hard rubber pads before they came out with the P.A.D. recoil pad. The P.A.D. is only used on Weather Warriors, Hunter Series w/synthetic stock, and slug guns.
