Only way to do it correctly is remove the barrel from the action. Some smiths rechamber by hand but that can lead to an egg shaped chamber.

If you decide to rechamber your barrel with the action on, you will need to get an extention for your reamer. Pacific Tool and Gauge can get you set up with what you need. You'll also have to make sure you don't tilt the reamer and egg shape your chamber. Go slow on the cutting as to not cut too deap, and make sure you clean all the chips from the many hiding places inside your lug recesses and such.

You could go through that pain and expense or spend the 5 min to take the barrel off...

With an action wrench and barrel vise, it isn't rocket science. If you have the lathe that you'll need to chamber the barrel anyway, you should have the ability to take the barrel off the action. If you don't have the right tools already which is cheaper, a few tools that are good to have around anyway or a new barrel and action because you trashed the one you had being lazy?
