Has anyone used either of these two powders yet? I'm loading for.223 22-250 .308 .270win.

I have looked for some data,found some but not a lot so far.

Getting ready to get in on a order and will order 8lbs. of each.

I bought the latest Hornady # 8 load book and was very dissapointed.

The Superformance Powder Loads were UNDER the listed highest loads. That's right their testing
found pressure limits at under current powders listed in the max speed loads. Powders we had years ago
are still faster in most instances.

For example:

22-250 60 grain V-max,

Superformance max load and speed was 43.0 max load and 3500 FPS

6 other powders hit that speed limit, and 2 exceeded that speed by 100+ FPS

no loads for the 22-250 have any loads listed with the Superformance as the highest, fastest loads.

You might find loads elsewhere saying they are higher but I doubt it.

Well I got 8 lbs of Superformance and a pound of MR2000 coming to try out.

I'll get some loads worked up in 22-250 and .308 and post some of the details. In my .308 bow I'm using WC846 and getting a tad over 2900fps with a 155 Amax. Hopefully it it fairly temp stable as the 846 is not.

ShaneG,
I'm using PP2000 MR in my .308 and 6.5x55 Sweede. My .308 is running 2950 with a 175 grain Nosler.... Yes.... you read that correctly. Please work your load slowly. I'm not having any brass issues or primer issues. I haven't done any work with 155's..... I'm still using up the 4000 rounds of Nosler CC 175's.

Load Data:
Bullet: 175 Nosler Moly
Primer: BR2
Brass: WW
Powder Weight: 49.5 grains of PP 2000 MR
COL: 2.925
Vel: 2950 fps (Chrony)

Keep in mind.... I'm running them thru a Shilen Select Match 30 inch barrel also......

As for .223's.... I did some work with PP2000 MR with 75 grain bullets. Saw no big gains over my RL15 load.

Thanks for the input. That is moving along pretty good,just have a 24" factory barrel on mine. I was getting right at 2700fps with 175smk's with the WC846 surplus powder but soon as the temps went in the mid 90's I was prying open the bolt and knocking out cases. Same thing happened with the 155's had a few show up at close to 3100 in the chronogragph.

So hopefully one of these powders work well. The superformance will mainly get ran in the .223 and 22-250's.

The only thing I've noticed about the powder is, there's not alot of load data listed for it? It seems to have a very narrow range of use?

I have not seen a lot of data on it just .223,22-250 and .243 but they have .308 factory superformance ammo so not sure why they don't put out any data for that. I'm sure it will work in more cartridges than they have listed just have to work up the loads and see I guess.

Well I got my powder in last week and finally had time to load up some stuff but not yet shot it,maybe this afternoon.

Both powders fill the cases up for sure now to see where the limits are for my rifles. Will post up some findings when i get them.

Well Made it out to shoot some loads today. I'll list the charge weights just like i shot them. I only loaded 2 of each charge weight except for my starting load.

Savage 12bvss 26" CM 12 tw PRVI case,55g Accu-tip 2.410" oal.
40.0=3427 41.5=3623 43.4=3851
40.0=3367 41.5=3613 43.4=3875
40.0=3418 42.0=3642 44.0=3975
40.0=3427 42.0=3663 44.0=3968
40.0=3418 42.6=3724 44.4=4065
40.6=3467 42.6=3755 44.4=4052
40.6=3454 43.1=3798
41.0=3527 43.1=3756
41.0=3454

The 44.0 loads just started to show a tiny bit of flow around the firing pin,they didn't look flattened out yet just raised ever so slightly around the pin mark. the 44.4g loads were a little worse yet but didn't look too bad. At 44.4g the case was filled to about .060" below the mouth,not much room left at all and really compressed.

I also loaded some .308 with 155 amax's to 2.850 24" CM hb 10 tw.

I loaded from 46.5g-50.5g and still was pretty slow. 46.5g went roughly 2360fps. 50.5g load ran roughly 2515fps. I believe to get up to where i want to be the case will have to be slam pack full as well.

Also ran some 2000MR with 155 amax's same 2.850 from 46.5g-52.0g. They ran from 2620fps@46.5g to 2880 at the 52.0g load.

As always don't use these loads without working up to find your safe limits.
