Has anyone bought a replacement pipe directly from Savage? I am very interested in picking up one of the 10fcp 5r barrels for my 10fp.

From my request last year. They will only replace your barrel at their place, wont sell you a bbl for doing it yourself.

closest your going to get is Northlander who strips a few guns and sells the parts.

Getting the barrel shipped is not an issue. I was wondering if the prices were comparable to a Kreiger, McGowen, or Schillen replacement.

Last I called Savage they would not sell any barrels at all. Only do the repair work themselves. Aftermarket is always gonna give a little better quality.

I expect the factory will always be most careful about liability. If you buy just an aftermarket or take off barrel, you are sort of implying that you know what you are doing. Of course, engineering did fry my brain, and it's out to get yours too! ;D

I am assuming that is the issue, and understand their position.

And my brain is fried, and I have only been in class for a week :o

I ended up with a new barrel for a savage F class, not marked for chambering(6.5-284) but has 2 proof marks.
Also numrich has some savage barrels now, i got one and it was the same deal, they dont get marked until they are mounted on a gun.
Some of the numrich barrels were really beat up, espically the 300 rum small shank. lots of rust and shot poorly.
The ones i got were all good but my uncle did not have the same luck. My next ones will problably be a brux from SSS, but i cant get any replies on getting smaller contours or no turn chambering from them.

Try sinman (sin-arms.com), another one of the sponsors here. He has Brux barrels also.

I have a number of barrels from Devin and they all shoot bughole. Sinarms rules!
