What is your favorite stock for your rifle, bench or varmit?

Where would be the best/quickest place to accuire one?

The factory BVSS is a nice stock.

I also like the Choate ultimate varminter on a bench.
Like the height adjustment wheel on the back, but its got a pistol grip so.
The pistol grip does not bother me.
Its loaded with voids so its easy to load up to about 12-13#.
The aluminum V block is superb.
Shot my best 4 shot group ever with one, nothing special.
3/4" at 300 yards with 2 through the same hole.

Also like the B+C medalist.
Rides the bags pretty good.

For a comfortable hunting stock with a good recoil pad I like the Duromax.

B+C makes some nice stocks.

Long range, Sharp Shooters Supply (Dogtracker)
Short range TM stockworks. (Kelby 700 Remington tang non-inletted, then sent off to be inletted for a Savage)

Varmint, HS precision, or Factory VLP.


Where would be the best/quickest place to accuire one?

-The B&C and HS can be bought thru Stocky's Stocks, and can be had within a week or two.
-The VLP can be had from Northlander here on the site, thru Savage(at a higher price), or used in our classifieds.
-The rest of these will need to be custom ordered from their respective makers. The products are superb but the wait time will most likey be LOOOONG! Somewhere between 4-30 weeks.

IMO, if you are looking for a reasonably priced "all around" stock, it is hard to beat the B&C Medalist for around $200 or so.

Actually, they do make the Medalist in long action. They're on Stocky's.

What kills me is that they don't make any stocks for left handed rifles in any series that they make.

They do not make the A2 Medalist for a long action. I have emailed B&C about this and they said nothing was in the works for the future either.

Wow-Nobody votes for wood. I like the Boyds laminated thumbholes. I have two varmint thumbholes and one of the lightweight thumbholes. As soon as they get the VT back in stock I'll go for number four. I install pillars and bed the action and so far have had to do very little cleanup on the inletting. Their website is always up to date on inventory and it has never been more than three days to my doorstep. If you still like wood, Boyds are great folks to deal with. Steve

SSS only sells wood stocks, and many have voted for them. Also the factory VLP stock is wood, and a couple of people voted for them.

I stand corrected. Not the Medalist I want though, but you are correct. Not much info on that page about the savage. Wonder if for centerfeed? Also looks like for sporter weight barrels only.

Allot of guys here like the Medalist Tac/Varmint. I find it sits on a bag well when shooting from the bench and also works great with a bi-pod. If you want it in wood though you have to roll your own ;)

Richard's Microfit. They're all "Laminated". Not a true drop in but the selection and cost makes up for any work you''ll have to do to them to make it "yours". Inlet now is about 90%.
Almost 1/2 the price of a "custom" made stock in less than 1/2 the time.
I've had at least 6ea. and they keep getting better all the time. I can see more in my future. ;)
