I want to label or engrave a couple Shilen SS barrels with caliber etc. I looked at engravographs and a couple Marking Methods Inc products but I just don't want to put $350+ into something to just write on a barrel. So, I'm looking for any suggestions I can get. All I can think of now is buying a label maker and printing out a sticky label. I'd rather have something that is a little more permanent though. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Couple suggestions here,
1 find somebody nearby that has a laser engraver they could do a very nice etching job for ~$20 or so.
2 use a resist& acid etch it our self, or look into electrolytic etching.

Thanks for the tips! The acid etching looks like it might be the ticket! I really appreciate the help.

Local gunsmith may have a set of stamps.

I've been marking my barrels with one of these etching tools.

Not as pretty as the laser engraving or etching, but it works.

I've labeled a couple of barrels with the Harbor Freight stamps and they work good. Take your time on the lining up of the different stamps. I have been using a rocking motion with the stamp as I mildly tap the stamp. Try a piece of scrap until you get the hang of it. I think you can find these on sale for less than $10
