I am thinking about putting a Karsten cheekpiece on my Savage 10FCP HS Precision, but honestly I'm a little nervous. How strong is this stock? It's not going to crack or anything when I drill the holes, right? And also, if anyone has done this on this stock, is the butt area hollow? Thanks in advance ;)

I haven't done it on an HS, but I have on cheaper stocks, no issues. . . Don't worry about it, just use a good bit and you should be fine.

I wouldn't have a problem doing it on a normal plastic synthetic stock, but I'm wondering if anyone has done it on a fiberglass stock like the HS Prec.

I did it on a Duramaxx, it's fiberglass. . .

Sorry, I didn't know that's what you meant by synthetic. I didn't mean that disrespectfully. Thanks for the advice, I'll just buy a new drill bit to be sure :) I would hate to mess up that stock :o Thanks again

No disrepect, I wasn't clear!

I would suggest masking taping the stock where you will drill though, should help minimize chipping around the hole.

Yeah, HS is worth being cautious with, I agree!
