Tim300WSM,
I just got back from a Distributor show. I just ordered 9 of the newest LRP Rifles. They do not have them yet but I was told that delivery/shipping by Savage is scheduled for February 2011. I won't know for sure until they actually arrive but I would expect them by March 2011.

I've got one on order in 6.5 Creedmoor... 'February-ish' was the answer I got... and I got the distinct impression that was somewhat tentative ;)

I've decided to go with the 260. My buddy said he'll tell me the price when he gets back from the SHOT show next week. He charges me 10% over what it cost him. I'm curios to see what that works out to.

I'm curious... where are you guys getting that low of prices on them?

I would really be interested in where you guys are buying these for the pricing quoted. I just visited with Savage at a regional distributors 2011 product show, dealer cost is over $808.00 not counting shipping ($20.00 ish) and a little margin to allow a guy to keep on the lights. If I had to guess I would expect these to be offered in the $850.00 range.

My guess is the guys that posted the low pricing are not looking at the NEW/2011 LRP (Long Range Precision) Rifles. Savage has photo's posted on the new LRP on their web site now. They are showing it at $1081.00 retail. I do not think it can be purchased in the $650.00 range.

I just went online at Buds Guns. They are preselling them at $860.00 with a yet to be determined delivery date. Add in your shipping and FFL transfer fees and you will be lucky to be at $915.00 ($30.00 Transfer).

I have nine on back order at this time (3 of each caliber). My selling price will be right around the $850.00 + S&H pricing pending my delivered cost.

I'm guessing this $650 price is for the LRH (Long Range Hunter) not the LRP (Long Range Precision)

I was figuring about $900-ish ( really $2500 with scope, scope rail, etc, wife likes to hear "it was $900", it's probably better we don't tell her about the other stuff ) like Jim said, thought $650 sounded a little low.

Working as a rep in the past, I believe most manufacturers prefer you not share your pro form prices publicly. It gives the product a lower perception of value when people see the deals other people are getting. In other words you are not doing any favors for the people that are doing you a favor. Its just kind of unspoken but in many cases its written right on the form. You probably would not tell a customer that is getting ready to buy that rifle from you how much better of a deal you got. But that is no different than doing it on a forum.
I'm not one of those call everyone out type of guys but I have seen some of the programs "go away" for this reason.

On another note I called a rep buddy of mine and he said they should be shipping around mid February.

The interesting thing about those prices is that they are considerably lower than dealer cost (what Northlander cited) or even (Savage) employee cost, which is usually at or a little below dealer cost. Gotta wonder what 'employer' manages to beat either of those...

I've got mine on order from Impact guns. I went with the .260 and then to top it off Lapua is manufacturing .260 brass. Looking to put the New 2011 Sightron S3 6x24x50 LRMOA with the Nightforce Rings and Base.
