vortex viper

I bought a new vortex viper lastnight and installed it on my 308 model 10. I made it to the range today and tried it out at the 1000 yard range. The scope is a 6.5-20x44 with the bdc reticle. Anyway those of you that have this scope do you think the cross hairs are to thick for pinpoint accuracy? I really like everything else about the scope.

I do not like the BDC reticles for that very reason. When I am shooting at targets(or varmints) I like the reticle to be clean(meaning not too busy looking). Now I opt for either a target dot, fine crosshair, or a regular duplex reticle.

I have owned a Viper 6.5-20 in every one of the reticles they offer, and in my opinion the best ones by far for target use is the target dot or the V-plex wide reticles. Actually, after getting the vplex wide scope I prefer it to the target dot.

I have a BDC on my 2-7x Viper. I love it. I can see with higher power it being a problem. tim

So is the cross hair on the wide v-plex finer than the cross hair on the bdc?

Heres the link to the reticles on the Vortex site. The V-plex wide crosshair is half as thick as the BDC crosshair.

click on the links and it will bring up the reticles. Then on the page click on "specs" and it will give you the specs for each reticle.

I use the same scope with a target dot and love it. The fine cross hairs with a subtle dot in the center is ideal for most target and varmint hunting conditions. I am not into the Army wannabe stuff and usually is not that effective in the civilian market anyways.

The only BDC reticle that I like is the Nikon because they use a hollow circle.
