Does anyone have first hand knowlege of the Savage muzzle brake found on the Law Enforcement series of rifles? Is it an effective brake, or am I going to be cutting it off and having a better one installed? I am enclosing a link to show the specific rifle, not to promote any retailer. Thanks.

I have two, one in .308 and another in .223.
While the recoil in .223 is nothing, there is a definite difference.
On the other hand the one in .308 makes a huge difference.
Shooting mine and a friends same model (with out brake) I would guesstimate
about 45-60% reduction in recoil.
Go to savagearms.com and you can see better pic's.

Ok, thanks. It would make sense that the bigger the bullet payload, the more effect the brake would have.
If you can find some good photos you will see that it vents
a LOT of gas.
I have shot just about every brake on the market and the Savage
rates along the best in my opinion.
Not a multi hole pretty-pretty but it works.
