Ok first off, hello Savageshooters! I'm a first time poster long time reader and I'm glad I finally registered ;D Anyway, I stumbled across a Savage 110 22-250 with a Leupold Rifleman mounted for $400. It looks to be in great condition. The stock in nearly perfect with one one minor blemish on the whole finish. And the bluing was also excellent. The trigger was standard(no accutrigger) but felt very smooth, not heavy. I'm no gunsmith but it looks to me like a good investment overall. So my question is....should I drop $400 on it and go home happy? Or should I try to get it cheaper? Any advice would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance ???

Haven't look at any of the Leupold Rifleman series scopes for several years. At that time they were in the $150 to $175 range so a used one should top out at $100 - $125. New Stevens rifles which would have similar qualities as the Savage are running $225 - $300. Most I would spring for is $300 -$325 on the combination. I'm sure the pawn shop is using the Leupold name too command a higher than normal used price. Recently I've quite the pawn shops for firearms as all seem overpriced from todays realities.

+1 on trying to get it for $300. The scope retails for less than $200 today so it has a used value of $100 and $200 for the gun sounds reasonable.

the pawn shops all compare prices to gunbroker now. If they all list there and set there prices high, they all think that is where there selling at

Gallup New Mexico has got to be the pawn shop capital of the Southwest and their prices on firearms are way out of touch.

+1 They cost $150-$200 but they are no where near worth it. A Nikon Buckmaster is a far better scope in the same price range.

If it is a .22-250 and a 110, your talking an older gun or re-barreled. Did it also say "series J" on it? Oddball screw spacing with limited stock replacement options if you ever wanted to.
If it happened to be one of the odd cast receivers with the scope bases as part of the casting, pass on it.
not worth $400- unless you want it bad or some one can prove it was shot very little.

When I had first asked about the gun I tried to get it without the scope anyway, since I have an almost brand new Redfield Revolution 3-9x40...but he wanted to keep them together. And I don't remember if it said "Model 110 J" on it or had a pre set scope bases. These are definitely things to go back and check for though. I can tell you that the stock was wooden, walnut I believe.

Only thing about a used 22-250 is the barrel been shot out? For the money id get a new Stevens 200 and not look back!!

What do you think of the Revolution? Got my son a Leupold Rifleman and it has been a very good scope. Adjustments are turn rather than click. It holds zero on his 300WSM very well. Guess you can get bad ones but his is a great scope.

I like my Revolution a lot. It's very clear and has tons of eye relief. Only negative I have to mention is that the adjustments could be somewhat more accurate...but I've been told by more than a few people that most adjustment knobs are never true to the 1/4". I was also able to get the scope for 125 shipped off ebay haha.

Check to see if it has a flat rear reicever and if its a "J" series. If oneor theother and impressed checkering instead of cut it is an older model and not worth what they are asking. It is obviously a long action with a short action cartridge which places it in the "J" seies range. Get yourself a Stevens. You will be much bdtter off.

Don't get the idea it is junk, just that it is older and likely shot more. nothing wrong with the flat back receivers.
J would date it 59 to 87
after 87 the short action was a 10

yeah man, I would pass on that. When I bought my Savage 12 FV in 06 it was $450 with a bushnell scope and it was new. I bought it at dicks sporting goods when I worked there. It was also in .22-250. $300 sounds more like a deal.
