I know that I read in a previous post how to convert the magazine in a long action for use with a short action cartridge. What I have is a model 111 that was a 270. I would like to change over to a 7mm-08 for my 10 year old son.

Do I just need to change out the follower. I have changed out long to long and to RUM but have not yet changed long to short.
Thank you all for your experience.
Richard

Before you change anything, try feeding the 7mm/08s through the mag, if they feed ok nothing will need to be changed.

Thank you GaCop for your help. They do indeed feed alright. I was concerned about the shell sliding back and forth in the magazine with recoil when shooting.

Stick with Ballistic Tips or hollowpoints and that shouldn't be a problem.

Hello,
Is your action a staggered feed or centerfeed?
What did you have to do to convert to RUM?
Any other special modifications?
Thanks,
Charlie
