I purchased some new Winchester 22-250 brass and upon sizing I noticed 3 out of the 50 had a groove down the necks. Has anyone ran into such a thing before? I load a lot but mostly buy once fired. I thoght I'd start the 22-250 out with some new and right out of the bag I've lost 3 cases. Maybe I'll stick with once fired.

The last Winchester brass I purchased had a few like that. The best brass that I've gotten so far is LC 09 HS from Grafs. I'm sure you can get better by spending more but I'm a poor man shooter.

I cannot tell from the picture, but believe this is a manufacturing problem and the cases WILL SPLIT when fired.
Personally, I would not use them and contact the manufacturer about the problem. If they are a stand up manufacturer, they should send a UPS/FedEx drop ship tag for the return of the bag of brass and supply new brass to you.

Yes, I have gotten several lots of winchester 22-250 that were bad. As you say maybe 3 out of 50, just enough to tick you off.

Well, I have had this problem with Winchester white box ammo. I found that some boxes must of had a bad lot of brass. I also found that the white box needed length trimmed right after firing, and if you did not length trim it, the necks would crack on the second firing. Winchester 22/250 brass is not bad stuff, heck it was all I had for years, and I found it shot better than Federal, or Remington brass. Someday I will score some Lapua 22/250 brass ,but until them I will keep firing my old Winchester brass.

.
Winchester was the best brass for the 22-250 before lapua. I tried the nosler and Norma and nither one lasted as long or was as consistant from piece to piece as the winny.
