I was thinking of a sub-sonic project and playing around with which case

1 7.63 x 39 mm

2. 30 BR

3. 300/221Firball

Just wondering ..thinking of using the 6mmBR because of the brass..anyway looking for input from anyone with information.

I have played around with a friends 300/221 fireball AKA 300 whisper. It is kind of neat but has no practical use for me so I've never put one together. Just depends on what you like I suppose.

I would build a fast twist 7.62x39

I've been shooting the whisper for about a year now, in fact, mine is for sale in the classifieds. I'm moving to an AR15 in 300 AAC Blackout, which is essentially the same. It's been fun in a bolt action, and quiet with the suppressor. In fact, it's pretty quiet without the suppressor, compared to full power rounds. The 300 BLK gets my vote, because it is the 300 whisper in standardized form. This means you will be able to get a larger variety of dies and brass for it. You can also still make brass from .223. I headspaced mine using pre-formed brass that I bought from a guy who processes it from surplus 5.56. I think you will really like the 300 whisper/BLK/fireball.

No hassle brass!

played a bit with one myself, bought a chamber bushing to reduce a .30-06 barrel from ebco I believe it was.
also had one for .308 in a .30-06

You do need a different bolt head, the regular .473 is to large for consistent extraction.
