Hi folks, new boy here...

I've an eye on a Savage 12 varminter low profile model # 17765. It's a left hand 204 and I guess it 'new old stock' since I can't find it on the savage web. I'm guess it's similar to the 12 VLP DBM Left Hand # 18473. Any ideas on how old it might be or what the difference might be on the new model.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the older VLP without a Detachable box Magazine.

But it does have an internal 4 round magazine? When was it discontinued? I did find an older online pdf catalog which has the 17765 listed, but not too much info...

Yes it has the internal 4rd magazine. I'm pretty sure it has the same action and barrel. It's a very nice rifle. I have two of the Model VLP DBMs. The price of them has gone up at least $100 since I bought mine. So if the price is right, I wouldn't let the fact that it has an internal magazine vs a DBM stop me from buying it.
