Savage 10Ml stock change question

I posted this question in the muzzleloading section and thaought that i may receive a better response here. I want to change out my tupperware stock for a Boyds thumbhole stock. What is the best method for cutting the ramrod slot?

I would use a ball end mill in a bridgeport or have it cut at boyds or a good gunsmith.
