Savage 10ML stock change question

I want to change out my tupperware stock for a Boyds thumbhole stock. What is the best method for cutting the ramrod slot?

when I did mine I used a 3/8 core box bit ( round over) router bit. Use a table mount router set up a fence to center the slot in the stock and adjust the depth accordingly. Try a practice cut on a scrap piece of wood .
