Ikr 8208 vs. 8208 xbr

Just picked up 8# of 8208. It is NOT xbr. Has anyone used the pull down? If you've done a side by side of them, I'd really like to hear you conclusions. Never loaded any type of 8208. Going to try it in a .223 bolt first. Will be using 8208xbr load data. As always starting low and working up, carefully. With the powder prices being what they are I couldn't pass this up. Hope it works out as I'm down to my last couple of #'s of 844 that has worked well in my .223's.

8208-XBR came out somewhere near 10 years ago and imported from ADI Australia by
Hodgdon. Earlier 8208's was IMR-8208XBR produced by Dupont, Valleyfield Canada. Most
of the pull downs of the Era would have been made by Dupont and I would start looking
for load data I would say in books around the late 1990's time period.....What color label
is on the jug, and any references to country origin ??

QuickLOAD only lists IMR8208 XBR in its lists of IMR powders.

Not sure why, but there is no IMR 8208 listed.
Maybe it has been superseded and no longer available.

It was re labeled IMR8208 mil surp gunpowder lot# wcc-69-tw12. Read something to the effect of Thunderbird T322 later T22 (avoid H322 confusion) no longer produced was popular in the bench community. So 8208 came to be as a limited run, then our military showed interest. As 8208xbr it's not quite the same,as some of the ingredients are now a no no. Hoping for the best with it.

The newer Australian 8208 xbr (with a gold label on the container)works well for me in .223. Especially in the heavier bullets.

Hmmm. My IMR-8208 XBR, which I use quite a bit of, says it is manufactured in Australia and packaged in the USA, best of both worlds. Whatta Hobby!

I also seem to use a lot of Aussie powders, and ones from Finland :)
