I just acquired a savage 1899 in 30 30. I think it's a model r or model b I can't tell. Serial dates it to 1912. It is a takedown with interrupted threads. a 127XXX serial and a 20 inch barrel. Can anyone tell me anything I don't know about this rifle thank you.

30/30 cal is a rare bird in the model 99. Not many were made.

Sounds like an 1899 H featherweight. Made form 1905-1919. Only TD with a lightweight 20" barrel in .30-30.

Probably the most common caliber they made the 1899H in, now if you could find a 99R in 30-30 it would be a rare bird.
