So i have a 220 slug gun that here in the UK there is not really a specific reason to own.

I was thinking of re barreling to a large caliber, 338 maybe. Its just a thought at the moment and was wondering if anybody had done something similar?

I've been told that the 220 is a beefed up 110 and the parts are interchangeable - again I've not done any research and I suppose this is the initial steps in making contacts.

I am not bedded to a 338 and any suggestions are welcome; even suggesting its not possible.

All the best

Short and sweet......not possible.

Anything is possible, but after looking into it, it's not a project worth taking on unless you own a machine shop and have a lot of rainy day's in the forecast.

Centerfire rifle cartridges operate at much higher pressures than shotguns.
That being said most shotgun actions and designs arent robust enough to handle anything near centerfire rifle pressures.
Probably a very very bad idea all the way around.
I know some of the old school NEF break barrel rifles can be fired with a shotgun barrel but not vice versa

The original 210 and the more recent revised 212/220 bolt-action shotguns are totally different than the 110 actions and thus cannot readily be converted over to a centerfire rifle. The bore of the action and raceway is different, the bolt body diameter is different, the bolt head and front baffles are totally different, the extractor/ejector setup is completely different....seeing a trend here yet? About the only thing these shotguns have in common with the 110-series is a) the outside action diameter, and b) they both are fitted with an AccuTrigger.

As shoots100 said, anything is possible if you have enough knowledge, time and money to throw at something, but at the end of the day you're just spinning your wheels because if it was such a good idea someone else would have done it already and parts to do such a conversion would already be readily available.

.30-30 is about as high as you can go, but you better be in the barn if you want to hit the barn

I do have a machine shop but not the time for a extended project. Thank you all for you comments, looks like it will gather dust for now.
