Hello, first time here. Hoping someone can answer this for me. A very nice lady gave me a Stevens 5100 in 20 gauge in decent shape, but it has the plastic stock that I'm trying to replace. Purchased a Boyd's stock (which is going to take a lot more fitting than I realized) but my problem is the stock bolt. There's this part that screws in to the end of the receiver and then the stock bolt screws in to that. I want to eliminate that middle part and screw a stock bolt directly to the receiver. Need to find a 5" long bolt that would have the same diameter and thread as the middle piece. Threaded shaft coming off the middle piece looks like it is 1/4" dia., tried 1/4"-20 coarse and 28 fine screws but no good. Need the the thread size, haven't figured out how to post a picture which would explain this better than I can. Hoping someone knows what I'm talking about. Thanks

I know what your talking about, they used Tenite stocks on them just like the Stevens 94's and the old Stevens 22/410's. I believe they all used the same thread pattern. Might be easier to do a search for the thread pattern with one of the other two models I listed. Don't have one here to measure the thread on it.

. . . . . tried 1/4"-20 coarse and 28 fine screws but no good. . . . . . .

As long as you are changing out the stock (and now making the gun “non-original) how about running a more common tap in the hole for an “easily attainable” bolt?

Yeah I thought about that, but I located a bolt at GunStocks Inc., he's going out of business but still had some stock bolts.
