hello every one , recently came into ownership of a savage 1899 Montreal home guard musket , seams all original in very nice condition , from what i read there is a Bayonet for these rifles , are they hard to find , I asked the family that owned it for 3 generations if they new of the existence of the bayonet but as far back as anyone could remember thier great grand father willed it down through the generations but didn't know any history on it or the bayonet , to them it was just a gun that every one thought was to big and heavy to use for hunting so it just sat in a closet until I offered to buy it , not sure if I made a good decision I paid a little to much for it and now having buyers remorse . if I could find a period correct bayonet I may feel better about the purchase but I may sell the rifle if I cant find one .

One MHG was recently sold at a Rock Island Auction for $4300, with the bayonet. As rare as these rifles/bayonets are, It's going to be determination and luck to be able to find one. Welcome to the group.
