110 Scout rifle, how to turn off the muzzle brake

Hi,

I am a new owner of a Savage 110 scout rifle. This is my first rifle and I am very happy with it. I am living in Germany and to participate in a competition I need to put off the muzzle brake.
My question is, how to turn off the muzzle brake ? I tried it to twist it to the left, but nothing happens, no movement of the muzzle brake at all.

Hope you can help me to solve this issue.

Which brake do you have? If it’s the one with holes all through it, use something thin like a screwdriver put through the the two holes closest to the barrel muzzle & turn counterclockwise. If it’s an indexing type, you have to hold the index nut & then loosen the brake counterclockwise.
