Glad to be a new Member here as I have a life long love of Savage guns.
I learned to shoot some 50+ years ago with my Grand-dad and his Savage-Stevens octagon barreled .22 pump at red squirrels.
I inherited his .20 shotgun an has served me many bunnies over the years.
Fast forward.. I now own a personally customized 93R 17HMR, an A22 FV-SR, and my "Queen"... A minty .300 Savage model 99.
I just purchased a "Bucket List" 501 Striker pistol and searching info on that is what brought me here.

Sounds good save for one thing… you didn’t mention the King of Savage firearms. Not even one Model 110 in all your 50 years with Savage firearms?

I have an "R word" 721 in the .30-06 and a Mossy in .243... so darn expensive to feed.
I have been pondering a .308. So a 110 just may work. LOL

I think a 99, which pre-dates the 110 by a significant margin, more than qualifies as a fine Savage centerfire. Welcome Hoosier. :thumb:

Nothing wrong with the Model 99/1899, it’s a fine lever action rifle with a long standing pedigree; having been produced for 98 years, compared to the 110’s on going 67 years. The Model 99, while an awesome Lever Action, simply does not offer the level of accuracy that a Bolt Action can, and does not offer what the Model 110 offers. It’s a fine piece of history, but with no end in sight for the Bolt Action, as it stands, the 110 is the longest continually produced rifle in the North America.
