I have a model 1899 serial # 117630 20” barrel. There’s a letter F stamped on front of receiver behind back of fore end stock. No ring or holes for one, is this still a saddle gun?

There was an 1899 A listed as a short rifle saddle gun, no ring with a 22" barrel, and an 1899 H feather weight with a 20" barrel, no ring.
Yours was made in 1911.
What caliber is yours??

30 30 it's been reblued, stock cut for recoil pad and refinished. looks way to good for an old gun. I assumed it was a 1899 H but wasn't sure what the F stamped on it meant. there are no marks on the lever bos. Barrel tapered and not too thick and is 20". I didn't know there was a feather weight, maybe that's what F is for? It was my wife's grandfather's gun given to me by her dad. the work was done quite a while ago, the butt pad is an old western field.

The F stamp is just an inspection stamp at the time. If the 20" barrel is original and it's not special order, it would be a saddle ring carbine (1899F) with either a staple on the left side or holes for one, or a featherweight (1899H) which originally would have had a hard rubber buttplate, and it would have a thinner barrel than other models.

It's a 1899H. With the F and no other marks and me not knowing anything about these guns I didn't know what it was. Gun weighs 6.7 lbs, looking forward to shooting it. Thanks for your help
