New member from Missouri

Good morning,

Newbie here from eastern Missouri. I own several guns, but only one Savage ... a model 110L, in 30-06. Have owned this gun since 1985 and based on information from this site, I was able to place the date of manufacture to 1963. Thanks to all who have provided information on determining manufacture dates in previous threads! I am more of a recreational shooter (plinking) now, though I enjoy some hunting and lots of handloading. Previously, I occasionally participated in NRA lever action rifle, pistol cartridge, and small-bore silhouette matches.

Missura, hey? I got some family out there. Got a Pre’66 there then. Nice. And owned it yourself since ‘85? In 1985 I was a young kid playing in the woods where I lived. Fishing, for turtles, Crayfish & Copperheads! Kudos! You’ve owned your 110 longer than the time in which I’ve been involved with firearms! (12yo). I’m 45yo now. I hope to follow your example one day. I’ve been a Savage 10/110 fan since 18yo, and owned several through the years. But never kept any. My current rig I’ve owned since 2016, and it’s a keeper. Though I’m sure I’ll have others as well.

Thanks all for the welcome! The 1963 Savage 110 I own was actually purchased at the Tulsa, Oklahoma gun show in 1984-85, and then gifted to me. I guess since left-hand bolt actions, in calibers I prefer, are not always easy to find, I tend to keep them around. Thanks again for the welcome.
