Hi, new from Ohio here but long time Savage lover. Wonder if anyone has a Savage sn# lookup. I have two Savage products (a model 24-V and a model 840 E) that I'd like to find their birthdates.

Howdy & welcome. Here is a chart going back to ‘69. For 1968 & older, there are other ways to date. For older 110’s there is an oval with letter & number stamped on the barrel. Other ways for other older firearms.

The chart is in the sticky topics top of the 110 forum - Dating Serial Numbers with a Letter Prefix (http://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?60032-Dating-Serial-Numbers-with-a-Letter-Prefix)

There's another chart for dating rifles manufactured prior to December 1968 using the date code stamp, an oval stamped circle containing 2 digits and a letter. The digits are the inspector's stamp, the letter is the year code - Rifles with Date Code Stamp (1949-1969) (http://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?62035-Rifles-with-Date-Code-Stamp-(1949-1969))
