We need to know whether it has the adjustable Firing Pin, or the One-Piece Firing Pin with the Cocking indicator that comes out the hole in the Bolt Assembly Screw (BAS), on the back of the Bolt.

If its the adjustable style, it could be one of a few different things unrelated to the Firing Pin directly. If it’s the One-Piece style firing pin, it’s very likely the firing pin spring. Typically preloading the firing pin with a washer of x-thickness will remedy the situation. Going to Savage Typically won’t help. Savage has had a few very well known problems that Savage Armes has continued to ignore for decades! It was left to Savage Enthusiasts to come up with work around fixes. To really diagnose the issue we typically will need first hand shooting account of the characteristics involved when it happens.

Outside of the direction above....when you say light primer hit, is there a dent in the primer?

Savage closes down this time of year. They might be open Monday the 15th if it isn't too cold. Keep trying to contact them.
