I loaded them at 2.400 oal just under the mag size by about .020. Problem is the feed ramp. The longer bullet starts upward motion to soon. Has anyone modified the gun ramp or mag to correct this?

I am surprised those fit in a magazine or even in the chamber. Mine were 2.280 and they barely fit. When I had 1000rnds through the barrel there was only 0.020" jump to the lands.

The 69 grain Sierras for my Axis measure 2.48" I would say there is maybe .008"-.010" or so from touching part of the magazine. They seem to feed OK, surprisingly.

2.280” is still fairly short for a 223 in a Bolt Gun. I load my 223 for my AR’s @ 2.250” which is max AR15 mag length. And I can still load up to 75gr BTHP’s at that length. Now, I don’t shoot any 223 in a Bolt Gun but I’m always reading here & other places of guys loading 2.300”-2.400”+ for their bolt actions.

The gun shot fine. I would have shot the bullet in the lands to start, but it wouldn't fit the magazine. I didn't write down cbto due to not fitting. I will now that they fit the mag. The wind was blowing 10 to 15 mph left to right. I shot a 1.180 five shot group. And one .875 3 shot group. 24.8 gr BL-2C powder @ 2733 fps. Hodgens says 2806 but I have never got the speed they say on any load.

At the 1000rnd point at 2.3" the smks were touching the lands on my Axis barrel. They had less than 0.1" clearance in the Savage mag (it is the one with the block in it, not AICS). When I loaded 75 ELD match bullets to the same CBTO they were too long for the mag at 2.44" (but they shot very well).
