I am having trouble locating a factory Axis bolt body. I’m not looking for an aftermarket one any help would be great. Thank you.

Only place to get one would be Savage (who won't sell you one) or second hand from someone who replaced theirs with an aftermarket one. Changing the bolt body can affect the headspace which would require resetting the headspace to the new bolt body. This is why Savage won't sell you one - it's a liability thing. Even if you bought an aftermarket one you would still need to check and likely reset the headspace.

I agree. For Factory Axis Bolt Sleeve/Body, you will likely need to find one used. The only place which might be able to supply new is Sharp Shooters Supply. Contact Fred & ask. http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/BoltParts.html

Otherwise both Glades Armory & PT&G have Aftermarket Bolt Sleeves for the Axis.

I also agree with Jim on the point of Headspace as well. Although some here have argued extensively that replacing the Bolt Body can not change Headspace. Some feel only the Bolt Head replacement merits Headspacing. I have always agreed with your post Jim. Tolerance stacking is precisely what must be taken into account. I continue to recommend checking Headspace regardless of either Bolt Head, Body or Both being replaced.
