Having a ball goofing off today, as usual. Will be headed out to the range with an older rifle today. Savage 110 .223. Don't see many long actions from Savage in this caliber. Scope is a Leupold VX-III 6.5 - 20 with fine target dot. Installed a Rifle Basix trigger for a nice light let off. I think this girl has been in the fold for over 3 decades and needs some exercise. Used to be a 1/4 moa shooter in another lifetime. Whatta Hobby!

From 1988-1997 all Savage 110’s were built on LongActions.

Thanks Dave.
I remember a lot of comments back in the last Century about Savage not making .223s in 110 long actions. Not being one to argue, I just said , ok, if you say so. Having way too much fun. Whatta Hobby!

Made a scope adjustment of 1 R and 1 D for the next time out. Absolutely no wind today so I have no excuses. Should make it another 10x shooter. Whatta Hobby!

Barrel cooling entertainment. Right at 125 yds and behind where I am shooting. Whatta Hobby!

Lol
Last year I had a doe walk across in front of my bullet path while at our 300yd range. She walked thru about 30yds from the target. I was looking thru my scope and ready to send a round when I lost the target. Looked up and there she was standing in front of it! She got very lucky that day.

Moved the old Savage 110 .223 into an ORYX chassis. Dang these old rifles and scopes are fun with a new dress. Still need to make some adjustments on the cheek riser height, but I think it will work out just fine. Temp is 24 this morning with a slight breeze. The one shot out at 3 in the 10 ring was operator error. If it warms up I will give her another try. Rifle shot about 6" lower and more consistent without the pressure from the old rubber Savage stock. Whatta Hobby!

Nice shooting! I just purchased an Oryx stock for my 110Tac in 6.5CR, tho it has not shipped yet can't wait to get it! it's a left hand model and I think it had a longer shipping time?:o

Good work!

The tank ranges in W Germany were noted for the game that was down range. We were not supposed to shoot at it but the forest master didn't seem to mind since he got the animals. We were shooting the coax machine guns (12 tanks) and a largish boar ran out into the range at about 300yd. About half the tanks fired. After all that he was still running when he left the range boundary flags. Close to 500 rounds and no one hit.

Last attempt for today. 35 deg and still a slight breeze. Ain't no tuff guy anymore. My fingers are freezing. Finally got the 100 - 10X so it's time to do some nice warm loading for a bit. Whatta Hobby!

Took the bipod and monopod off this morning. Might be fun to see what this rifle will do off a rest with this trigger monkey at the wheel. Whatta Hobby!

Your'e getting into the realm of benchrest targets and shooting one bullet per bull :)

That's the idea. Rifle is darn accurate with the right fodder. Now, with a rest instead of a bipod, it should be considerably better. We'll see. Whatta Hobby!

Out shooting my Savage 110 .223 in a recently installed ORYX chassis. Have been doing pretty good using a bipod but today decided with a new load to go for a rest and rear bunny bag. Just had a feeling it was right. Had a decent group going at 100 yds until the 4th shot moved to the right a half inch. Dang, a couple of nice deep breaths and the 5th came home. Load is a Berger 55 gn fb varmint bullet over 26.5 gn of Varget in neck sized Starline brass set off with BR-4s. Pretty sure this setup will be shooting in the low .2s the next time out. Whatta Hobby!

Have been enjoying this rifle in the oryx chassis. Been single feeding with no magazine so I thought I would order one. Well, no such animal as a long action .223 AICS mag. Not a big problem as I don't normally load bolt actions through a mag anyway. Whatta Hobby!

You could make one yourself. Long action AICS mag, get a 223 follower & make a block for the back. Then trim & adjust the feed lips properly. I’d give it try.
