Experienced re loader, shooter, and gunsmith. I have built hundreds of custom rifles over the years and many of them on Savage actions. Recently I have become interested in the less expensive AXIS line and have built some serious one hole shooters I was told could not be done :) Currently building a 26 Nosler on a 110 action that was previously a 30-06.

Hello Mr65. Welcome to our fine forum. Would love to see pics of your work my friend. Easy way is to 3rd party host. Just upload to a site. I use this one. https://imgbb.com/ No sign up, no email..nothing. Just upload your photos, click the pic then COPY the “BBCode” link listed & PASTE it right here in your thread post. Very easy.

BTW, are you a Gunsmith as profession or strictly recreation?

BTW, are you a Gunsmith as profession or strictly recreation?

Once I was in the business but these day it is strictly recreation :) I still have a full machine shop at the house for my projects.

This is an AXIS I recently finished in 6mm Creedmoor,

Action fully blueprinted
24oz Factory trigger Mod
Boyds premium stock
X-Caliber barrel threaded, chambered, installed
Custom bolt lift kit

Lots of other little tweaks, it shoots BUG HOLES 1/4MOA at 3100fps Berger 105gr VLD Hunter bullet with 43gr of 4831-SC powder, Lapua small primer brass.

In fact it shot so well I decided to build a lighter barrel version as seen --

Beautiful! I was never a working gunsmith, just a hobbyist. But I’ve been doing that; building rifles & pistols, fixes, trigger jobs & fabrication/making parts for over 2-decades. Pleasure to know you.
