there's a visible gap between the back of one of my barrels and the breech of my old frame. just more than the thickness of a sheet of printer paper. never noticed it with my other barrels. what do I do about it? tks

It's not uncommon with an action that hinges to close. Gap doesn't matter if the headspace is right. Once you fire-form brass to the chamber on that action, keep everything the same and you'll be fine.

Read Bellm's stuff on reloading for the Contender and Encore. That gap can be as much as .010 as I recall. Nothing to worry about, just size your brass accordingly.

If I had a 0.010” gap, I would want to know absolutely sure headspace was spot on. 0.01” is much more agreeable to my way of thinking to max.
