I have a chance to buy a stock for a 12FV short action, it looks like a better stock than the one that came on my 10FP short action from the factory.

The 12FV has a slightly wider grip and the forearm seems much better reinforced.

Any ideas or experience? The only really good stocks I've found are quite expensive, like the H-S Precision.

It will fit if the action screw spacing and bolt release are the same.

The stocks themselves are pretty much the similar as far as stiffness goes.

I don't think you will be happy with that solution because from my experience, the stocks are the same.

I have two 12 FVs and neither of their factory stocks were reinforced. I could feel the 6.5mm CM twist under recoil. The .223 didn't twist, at least I couldn't feel any twist.
My old 10 FP .308 factory stock was not reinforced either. From what I could tell, all three were identical.

I replaced the stocks on the 12 FVs with Oryx chassis. They are aluminum and stiff. The improvements were measurable and were reported on this forum.
Years ago, I replaced the 10 FP stock with a Bell and Carlson adjustable stock that was reinforced. The improvements were also measurable.

^ Concur ^...if You use 12fv stock, it needs to be reinforced or stiffened. But even at that, You can only expect so much out of it. They can be made into acceptable hunting stocks.
