I have a Savage MkII in a Oryx chassis that I cant get to settle down.
I had this action in a Boyds wood stock and it shot pretty well.
Like an occasional 3/4 moa at 100 yards if I am doing my part.

But when I put the action in the Oryx chassis (torqued to 20 in/lb) it was shooting about 4 moa low compared to the Boyds stock.

Since the action mounts to the stock on the two threaded pillars, I would like to measure each when torqued to find out if they are actually flat and level.

Any good way to do this?

I am thinking to plastigage one pillar and torque the other one, then visa versa.

Not sure if that would work or not.

Any advice welcome.

Dykem might show the high and low spots. It wouldn't show how high or low. https://www.amazon.com/Dykem-80300-Steel-Layout-Brush/dp/B0018ACR6G

Or, you could just mix a tiny bit of bedding compound and bed the action studs.

If you need to make headless screws for guides, DIP Inc is the only source I've found for 12-32 screws. Their website is kinda slow, so be patient.

Sharpshooter has advocated tapping the studs out to 1/4"-28.
