muzzle brake clicking noise

i just purchased a model 16 with a muzzle brake.. it makes a clicking noise when i lift the barrel up and down.. is this normal? there is a small gap between the 2 pieces that is making the noise

You can't possibly think a clicking noise is normal. There should be no space. It's probably loose.
