A while back I screwed a 280 A.I. barrel on a 110 E (stagger feed) action from 30-06. I am using Nosler AI brass with Berger bullets.
The gun shoots extremely well, all groups les than 1/2 inch @ 100. However there is a feeding problem with the magazine. The AI shoulder binds up against the stamped rib on the mag, binding the case lengthwise between the case head and the shoulder. The result is failure of the case head to raise up enough in the mag to be picked by the bolt without assistance.
Would a 7mm/300WM magazine fix this or do I need to do more poliching? What else am I missing here?

or you could bend the mag lips

I've tweeked the mag lips and other places also. The problem is the case head binds on the rear of the mag, sometimes at a bad angle not even touching the lips.

The magnum magazines have the rib impressed farther forward for the longer cases and I would expect that to cure your problem.

Thank you all. That was my guess on the magnum mag.
