Hi All,
I have a new Savage Hog Hunter 110 in 308. It has a detachable magazine (the kind with the push button retaining clip on the front). I think this magazine is also used in the Savage Axis rifles.
I have a couple of questions about this type of mag.
1. Is it OK to top load ammo when the mag is outside of the gun? in other words, can I push down cartridges through the feed lips when I'm loading the mag, or will this somehow wear down or deform the feed lips if I do this?
2. If it's OK to top load ammo, does this mean that it is also OK to top load the magazine when it's installed in the gun? In other words, can I treat the magazine as if it were a blind magazine? Anyone do this with their rifle and magazine?
Thanks in advance! I really like my new Hog Hunter. It's a little front heavy, but it's very accurate and the heavy barrel does not heat up too quickly (and the point of aim doesn't wander too quickly).
