Still looking at getting a new rifle scope for my savage 16 300 WSM. Really considering a Weaver grand slam 4.5 x 14 x 40. and looking at the Nikon buckmaster 4x14x40 BDC. Anybody have any knowlege or comments on these scopes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 x 40 Target Dot. I also have a Monarch 3-12 BDC. The Buckmaster has been shot off all 8 of my T/C Encore barrels (.223 - .30-06) without fail. It's my load testing scope for my Encores. It's solid. However, if you change the knobs to the "Target" Style and leave them on, they appear to be weak. Just an observation I saw.... no failure yet and I've tossed that scope around alot... just something to keep in mind. If you leave the stock knobs on, they fit under the caps and there isn't an issue.

The Monarch 3-12 BDC is the Hunting Scope. Rock solid... clear.... and I've got distances dialed for each line.

on the buckmaster is the side focus the same thing as a ao on a bushnell?tired of junk it will be a nikon buckmaster,a bushnell elite 3200 or a diamondback. the size will be 4x12x40. but i really like the yardage ajustments, going on my 114 30-06.
