I've just acquired a model 11 in 6.5 CM - the former owner suggested I spend some time on this site.
I'm new to Savage bolt guns, I have been shooting break action single shots for a decade plus.
Two Handi-Rifle frames in center fire (204R, 223, 25-06 that I fitted), one 17HMR rimfire.
A TC Contender that started as a Super 14 in 44 mag, now doing duty as a 204R PD rig.
My grandfathers Remington 721 in 30-06 gets the call to try and fill an elk tag this fall.
I want to build a short action switch barrel, the CM came up on another site at a reasonable price. Not tied to the 6.5 CM round, I'll shoot it as is, but not a fan of sporter weight barrels. Thinking about 6mm BRAI, 7mm-08 for this action. If I like the 6.5 CM round, a varmint weight barrel
Next thoughts are picking up another short action (top bolt release preferred) with a 384 bolt head for 20 practical or 20-223AI and 204R
