Been a long time between posts for me. I picked up a 1905 single shot rifle and I'm still working it out. The condition is very good on the outside, a patina for the finish but it's even. Stock is fine, no marks or sanding. The rear sight is adjustable by means of a wheel, located vertically. The bore is shiny with some pitting. It was leaded up but my friend, a shade tree gunsmith, put mercury in the bore and removed a lot of lead so I can see the rifling. It's got a perch belly stock with a "Swedish' butt plate.

I read where I should shoot only CB caps, but I've shot it the few times I shot it with SV ammo. Should I be concerned about this?

Hi Gene!

I'd stick to low pressure stuff!! That's a cool old rifle!

From looking at some pictures, it looks like the bolt handle also serves as the locking lug. I have a 1911 Savage .22 short repeater. It also uses the bolt handle for the locking lug. The handle jumps up a little when I fire it. Knowing that's the only thing keeping the bolt out of my face, I shoot the lowest pressure stuff I can find.
