Mine is not 30 years old yet, but it has officially been discontinued. I have a Savage Model 116 .270 caliber. I am looking for the front bolt for the trigger guard (Stainless barrel and trigger guard). No one seems to have it or can get it. I have only checked a few places when I was referred here. Salvage will not offer any assistance because of the buy out they have several years ago. I think that bolt is why the safety is not working too. The safety is not functioning, so if anyone has an ideas, I am all ears.

try something simple, like the local hardware store?

1/4" - 28 TPI. Too long and it will keep you from operating your bolt. Too short you will strip out the action screw threads. Better to stat long and grind shorter.

The safety is probably an adjustment near the rear of the trigger assembly. There has been some discussion around your trigger recently. might be an easy find.

1/4" x 28 tpi, get it long, (get a couple) double nut it and cut it to length. Local BIG hardware store with a BIG selection.

Had that happen on an older Savage. I got the longer screw at an ACE hardware. First, I took the bolt out and ran the screw in all the way to see how much to trim off. For mine, it was about 1/4 inch. Second, took the screw out and put the nut(s) on before cutting, unscrew over the threads to make sure they're straight. Third, took a file and rounded the edges of the cut threads a little to make sure there were no burrs.

Being careful, you can get the most threads holding the trigger guard and torque it down without stripping it out.

What happened to the screw it came with? Are we talking about the front Action screw? Or just that Trigger Guard screw separate from the Action screws?

Its not either of these is it?
