I bought my first Savage rifle, a Rascal, in 2005 as a training rifle for my Grandchildren. I was pleased with it because it fitted them well and had a much better trigger and rear sight than all the others in the same class. We put up with the misfires and used it to teach how to clear a stoppage.
After they outgrew it, it sat in the safe untouched for a long time, that is, until I had a infestation of grey squirrels that ate the wiring insulation in my Impala. Turns out this is a good rifle for vermin control, adding an UltraDot left over from my bullseye competition days to accommodate my late-70's eyesight, a little bit of stock modification to make it fit me, and fixing the annoying misfires.
I came here to find what I needed to fix the misfires. Great resources here; I'd like to stay a while.
