Good Afternoon!

I am initiating a 2nd topic concerning the same Savage 99 I had questions about.

I currently have the rifle apart to thoroughly clean it and noticed the carrier assembly has a split or notch carrier body in which the carrier spring tail is retained. I was informed that the spring tail typically fits in a small retaining hole at the end of the carrier bodyhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1rCsA6lr6MVN56Gb69wRBQuGo9lc_Xvgbhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1V9ZZKF8IIrcju54wCCp8wjAdurdsaqIZ. Interested to see if anyone has seen this before. Please see photos.

I don’t see any photos that show you carrier.

I’m working from memory, but I recall that my 50s EG in 300 Savage has a notch for the spring and not a hole. Good on you for taking it down that far for cleaning! A gummy carrier/spring can certainly contribute to feeding problems.
