Hi everyone, I'M A NEW MEMBER TO SAVAGESHOOTERS AND CURRENTLY HAVE 5 SAVAGES RANGING FROM 12 GA, 30-06 BUT I'M HERE BECAUSE I JUST PICKED UP A MODEL 24 ( I BELIEVE) . I CAN'T FIND ANY INFO ON IT AND I'M THINKING IT MIGHT BE A UNICORN OF SORTS. IT'S A 22/410 WOOD STOCK BUT IT HAS A COPPER RECIEVER, NEVER SEEN ONE AND CAN'T FIND NYTHING ABOUT THIS GUN . IT'S AN AABSOLUTLY GORGEOUS GUN IN FANTASTIC SHAPE BUT I'M AT WITS END TRYING TO FIGURE OUT ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE, JOHNJ

Copper is way to soft to make a safe functioning gun. Has to be a re-plate like crome. Pictures would be most welcome to help with this!

Yeah, can’t be Copper. Does it look like this picture below. That is Color Case Hardening(aka Case Hardening) of the steel, and it can resemble Copper patina.

I found a post from J. Baker on our forum about the different model 24 variations...i think its in the history section...look there and ill look also to try and link it to you , but im a newbie also so I may not be able to do that......They are very collectible so good luck

ok, go to HOME...click on HISTORY on upper left......scroll down page to VARIATIONS IN MODEL 24.....I'll check my other forums if you need breakdown and part list ....History goes from 1938? to 2010 and lots of variations...good hunting

The OP hasn’t been back. I believe I gave him the answer as to the odd color of the receiver. I’m sure he has one with a Case Hardened receiver, like the pictures I posted. The Case Hardening procedure gives the steel Gold highlights and does resemble very tarnished Copper/Brass, etc.

Good thinking referring him to History on the Home page sledvet77. That section has all the info a person could want on the Model 24.
