Hi, I recently bought a savage 110c series j chambered in 7 mag. I don’t know very much about the gun, but have been doing my research and have run across a few helpful links. My main concern is that the stock is badly cracked from the bolt down to the mag and I’m having issues finding a replacement. I can’t find any that are right handed, that also have the side button mag release. I would like to keep it as vintage as possible. Does anyone know any information that could give any new leads? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Had to pay $500- to replace a left hand stock like yours. Took me almost 2 years to find it. I do not remember where I found it. UPS paid for it as it was a shipping accident.
May have been e-bit before they went anti.

Used to be able to find stuff from Numrich.

You might be able to find something from Boyd’s Gunstocks. I believe they had some on clearance for older models with the side button release, but can’t remember if it was long action or j series.

Other than that can you repair the one you have now and maybe just paint the stock to hide it or something? Those kind of jobs are usually interesting and fun. Atleast they start out that way anyways.

Question, do you need Right or Left handed stock? I took your post to mean you can’t find Right handed, however, Blue Avenger took it to mean you need a Left hand.

If you’d like to keep it original, you could Epoxy bed the whole thing. It would come out better supporting than when new! Other than, I agree with prog06. A Boyd’s is likely to have one at a reasonable price. But you will likely need to modify the stock for the side release.

Mine was damaged in shipping as well. I bought from guns.com and am having a dispute with them at the moment. But I’ve never done any repairs like this myself before, so as I’m sure you understand I’m hesitant to just jump into it without getting more knowledgeable opinions.

im in search of a right handed stock, but I’ve found multiple original left handed stocks on eBay for reasonable prices if you happen to look for one again Blue Avenger.

The stock is cleanly broken, with pressure applied it will open maybe 1/8”. So is epoxy a pretty dependable option? If so that’s definitely the route I will take. The older style was the main reason I purchased it

So it’s a j series action but is a 7mag. Can you verify the action screw spacing? Measure from front action screw to the front trigger guard screw. It will either be 4.522” or 5.0”. I’m assuming it is a 5.0 since it’s a 7mag, otherwise the mag opening wouldn’t be large enough.
If so that will make it ALOT easier for you to find one to fit as it’s atleast the standard long action spacing. Just be sure to verify the screw spacing matches yours before buying.

I did notice that yours was right hand, more the point was it took a long time to find one. They would not settle until I had it repaired. The shop that shipped for me gave me a recite for repairs that I could turn in for the claim and then I looked around for the stock.

If in fact it IS a "J" series stock, it's a inbetweener as far as measurements. Longer than the present short actions and shorter than the long actions. Super Glue. Anything around the crack will brake but NOT the repaired brake itself.

A couple long action 5.0” bolt space side release stocks currently available on Boyd’s website:

Although the wood one is for a LH shooter with a RH action.

Here’s a black synthetic.

Here’s one in wood, but needs refinished. (Not a big deal)

And this is a pretty nice Boyd’s Laminate. (I’d get this of the 3)

Never see a synthetic in the side release before. Wonder how common that really is?

I used to have one sitting on my shelf for a few years. Ended up giving it to a member who was building a rifle for his kid.

Can find more than one for sale. So, guess they were common enough.

The distance between the screws is 5 inches. I have a reached out to a gunsmith who is going to see if he can put a pin in it and epoxy it up. But I appreciate the advice and leads for replacements, I was having difficulties finding them
