Howdy all !
I don't remember if I ever did introduce myself... life gets in the way when I'm busy making other plans...
I'm admittedly relatively late to the Savage game.
I had joined just a few months ago when I found this forum because I had a question about one of my levers.
The response was quick and full of great information.
My very first Savage was an Axis in 6.5CM which I got about 4 years ago and have since given to my youngest son.
My real addiction started with the 1899s and 99s.
Yes, I know it all began with the 1895 and I shall have one someday !
My next dozen or so Savages (and more coming) didn't start filling my safes (and my freezer) until about 3 years ago with a 99 in 308.
Then a 99F in .308, and on and on...
I had been a Marlin lever fan for decades, a Browning lever fan for about 6 years now, never really a Winchester lever fan though I do have a 71 Deluxe.
But now it's the Savage levers ... I'm battling an addiction LOL !
I find the engineering to be ingenious, the handling and cycling very different but better than the other levers, and the accuracy I've achieved with my handloads in rifles over 100 years old or close to it is astounding !
I have them from 1902, 1913, 1921, 1929, 1935, the 50's through the 70s, in 22, 250, 300, and 303 Savage as well as 30-30 and 308 Winchester, some takedowns but mostly standard.
All beautiful to me and the 250 made in 1935 is my newest go-to for white tail after my results last season; Two on opening day. No blood trail even necessary.
I'm on the hunt (see what I did there ?!) for 99s in 243, 358, and 375 chamberings and will eventually have them too when I stumble on one reasonably priced.
Until then, I look forward to learning more and sharing information as well.
