I know most Savage guys are not into benchrest but I recently converted one of my Savages to a benchrest rifle and hated the fact that finding a stock with a 3" forend and straight, flat buttstock were pretty limited and hard to find.

I contacted this company called WOOX that will be coming out with a stock next month called the Titano, its a chassis with wood buttstock and forend meant for benchrest shooters. The problem is they will not be making it for the Savage rifles, at least not at first because they said there is not a lot of interest from Savage shooters in the benchrest market. I am sure that there is not the same level of interest as there is for the Rem action shooters since they outnumber the Savage actions by a ton but at the same time I would think that there are thousands of Savages out there and I am sure there is some interest in getting a nice fitted benchrest chassis? Anyway if any of you guys are interested in this hybrid chassis it wouldn't hurt to email WOOX and let them know.

I have no affiliation with this company, I am just trying to get them to inlet for the Savage actions so I can get my hands on one.

Here is a video of the new chassis coming out, starts at the 5 min mark.

It’s beautiful. But it’s another opportunity to spend big bucks and still not get what I want. At least it’s modular, so in the future they could provide butt stock and forend that would truly foot the bill for Bench Rest. They should talk to “Fuj” ;-))

Yes, Woox is well known here. I like the approach one of our members here, Fuj’ has taken. He does his own work, and machines parts himself, as some of us here do.

His approach is using the Oryx Chassis. He then machines a custom shoulder stock & the 3” rail attachment. This is the approach I would take if I wanted to use those rests.

As for me.. I’m a bench rest shooter, sure. However, it’s by necessity. Also, I’m not a competitor. Just enjoy building, working on & shooting firearms. I just like a simple Bipod though. So, instead of shelling out $300-$400 for a nice Bipod, I machined the parts & made my own using some pretty cool materials. 2024 Billet, Carbon Fiber, Titanium. (Kinda my thing, LOL!)

If you were interested, I wonder if they will offer the forend separately. So you could get say, a Furiosa, and that forend besides. Or if the might include it in their “custom build” style.

I have used richards microfit gunstocks. They have laminated benchrest stocks 90% finished that you can bed yourself and finish. The benchrest stocks are 229 currently. I am left handed and have done up two of these one handed one for varmint hunting and one for target work. The WOOX looks great but I am thinking will come in for more than 229 plus sandpaper, varnish and some jbweld.

The Titano stock may be avaiiable down the road for Savage if you use the "build a stock"
feature. If the new stock is multiple pieces to make up it's length, I would pass it up for
use as a bench rest stock. I chose the MDT because it is machined one piece. lots of stock
makers out there don't build for Savage but make flat tops for custom inletting.

The 12 F class comes about as close to a benchrest stock as you can get without the adjustable parts. Don't know if Savage sells the stock separate or how much it would cost. I made the cheek on my 12BVSS adjustable. Only took an hour or so. Then get one of the adjustable butt plates.

Yes, I only shoot from the bench, but, not in competition. One of these days I will make a new piece for the bottom of my stock so it works 'properly' with a rear bag. Maybe flatten and/or widen the fore end to work in the rest better.

And, yes, I so wish there were more aftermarket stuff for the Savage. OTOH, if I were to spend good money to build a serious rifle for target/bench it would probably not be a Savage action.

Yes, I make My own Bench Rest stocks out of tupperware take offs. Oh to have the tools and skill that Fuj has. Things won’t get better for aftermarket as long as Savage keeps changing things.

charlie, go for it. The table saw is Your friend !!

Here is a homemade stock that I picked up pretty cheap. Its fully bedded and modified for bench shooting. I honesty think the Titano would be a great option if they decide to inlet it for Savage.

I just watched the video you posted, and my take would be for them to take a good
look at the bench rest world for rear butt stocks. The one in the video looks more
for PRS, and would not cut it in the score/group game. Front end looks good. I'd
have my own tweaks for it but that's just me. I never could leave shit alone....
Next will be what type of price tag will they hang on it. If huge, the buyer would be
better off with a true purpose built BR stock. Cerus looks like the current winner in my
mind.....

My thoughts exactly Fuj. Even though they mentioned Bench Rest, that stock missed the mark for Bench Rest and F class. But being modular, I’m sure those stocks are C&C produced, so with the change of a program, they could produce anything their customers want. But it is an expensive item, that some are willing to pay for, and it remains to be seen if there is enough market for a product like that to survive.

If a Savage is the only option, I would suggest contacting Janet Rayhill at Stockade and have her make a long range or short range stock for Savage.
